About Us

Locally owned and proudly serving Sherman, Texas, our goal is simple: to provide a fun, clean, and caring environment where dogs can play, relax, and be themselves. We focus on supervised play, positive interactions, and plenty of rest, so every dog has a great experience.

Our team is made up of dog lovers who are trained to watch behavior closely, encourage safe play, and give each pup the attention they deserve. Whether your dog is visiting for daycare or staying overnight, we treat every guest like part of the pack.

Safe. Fun. Family-friendly. That’s the What’s Up Dawg? way.

Elizabeth Coon, Manager

A word from our manager, Elizabeth

My love for dogs has been lifelong, and they have always been part of our family. Over the years, we have shared our home with five dogs, and today our two pups, Tommy and Yoshi, continue to remind us daily of the joy, humor, and unconditional love dogs bring. Caring for Tommy, who has epilepsy, has given me firsthand experience supporting a special-needs dog and has taught me the importance of patience, consistency, medication routines, and calm reassurance. That experience has made me especially comfortable caring for dogs with medical needs, anxiety, or those who simply require extra attention, and I deeply understand how vital trust is for pet parents.

I graduated from Texas A&M University–Commerce in 1999 and later devoted many years to raising and homeschooling our three children, who are now young adults in college. I have been married to my husband, Jesse, for 26 years; he serves as a Plano firefighter and is actively involved with the House of Eli, mentoring young men with encouragement, guidance, and faith. Before joining What’s Up Dawg, I owned and operated a dog sitting and walking business in Trinity Falls, serving more than 100+ families over five years. My faith guides how I care for both people and pets, and I am excited to serve the Sherman community through What’s Up Dawg while supporting the young men of the House of Eli. Creating a safe, dependable, and loving environment where every dog feels respected, secure, and at home is not just my passion, but a calling.

About House of Eli

House of Eli is always full—and that’s a blessing. Every young man here needs meaningful work, purpose, and the chance to grow. As the house grows, so does the need for entry-level jobs that build confidence, responsibility, and hope.

When the needs felt overwhelming, we did what we’ve learned to do best—we asked God, “How do we do this impossible thing?” And His answer was simple: “What do you already have?”

What we already had was a group of young men who connect deeply with dogs. Time and time again, we saw how being around dogs brought peace, joy, and healing. Dogs don’t see mistakes. They don’t see failures. They see people exactly as God does—full of worth, love, and potential.

Dogs jump into laps expecting the best of us: belly rubs, playtime, patience, snacks, and cuddles. And somewhere between tossing a ball and sharing quiet moments, healing happens. Confidence grows. Love is exchanged.

That’s when it clicked—maybe a dog kennel isn’t just a business… maybe it’s a calling.

God provided the location, the community support, and just enough to get started—our loaves and fishes. The road hasn’t been easy, but God has been faithful every step of the way.

Our hope is simple: Your dogs return home happy, loved, and well cared for. Our young men discover their value, purpose, and God-given potential. It’s a business model only God could come up with—and at the end of every day, when we look in the basket, we’re reminded once again: God has provided again.
